The longest day....

Well, while all of you dear friends in America have been sleeping we Shervheims in Ukraine have been experiencing the longest day ever recorded in Ukrainian history! We have all agreed this day is taking forever! It just seems to be crawling by!

Daniel says, "It seems like its taking a million hours to get through this day."

Andrew says, " I just want to be home."

We have tried taking the girls out for walks while being here in Kiev but I think it is just too much stimulus for them - they want to be held and refuse to walk much at all. The girls are incredibly tired and overstimulated which translates to "uncomparably crabby". :) Todays nap was mostly a bust...Vika slept about an hour but we don't think Nastya slept at all. Which of course, all adds up to the longest day feeling....Our only hope there is that we can get them to bed really early? I hope!

Now, the other big news that we have is actually an annoucement from Daniel,

"I lost my first molar in the great country of Ukraine!"

- obviously, more bragging rights with friends!

Thank you for praying for us tomorrow as we travel. We will be flying and manuevering the airports of Kiev, Amsterdam, Minneapolis and then our final destination! (all during your Friday night of sleep and Saturday day) Keep in mind when we arrive it will be 7:44pm your midwest time, Saturday evening, but our "body" time will be almost 4 in the morning!!!

We will try to email Laura along the way and maybe she can post our progress? Unless of course, she's too busy selling off the rest of my furniture.

p.s.i just bought this huge "antique" cupboard that laura was selling of yours. it was only a buck :) (jk)

oh wait...you weren't really selling that stuff? drew will be so sad that he'll have to give the motorcycle back...and the kitty is really adjusting to life in the boonies!!!

Sue - I can make you a really good deal on a used futon.

Cassie - you can keep the kitty. He has a hairball problem, so you might want him to be an outside kitty. But, unfortunately, Lee would want the motorcycle back.

Laura, did the farmers wife take anything on her tour of the house? Did she take up my offer of her being a nanny? How come I havent heard squat from her in at least two weeks? Is she out waterskiing again?

Klarice, the benadryl is helping to keep it under control.

Praying that you will soon get some relaxation. Hopefully the girls will sleep for awhile on the plane for you.:) You're almost HOME!

Lee says about the "goat":

a) all good things must come to an end

b) things were found crawling in it

c) slowed down my borsch consumption

d) one day I just woke up and decided to change

Lee-now your face matches your elbows. and don't worry...drew has only been pretending he owns that motorcycle. the only one that is driving it around town is matt. i just have to remember to vaccum out the truck. we may have left a few french fries in there when we took it on our camping trip. it just fit everything better, and well, since we had the keys and all...we didn't think you'd mind.

Karen--the Farmer's Wife...well, she has been off her raft for a few days, but then she got on a airplane and headed to the west coast. The farmer is the best man for his hired man's wedding. ok, so he's not really the best man...but it sounded better why they up and left again. i think she might be interested in the house...only if she can drive the motorcycle to the store for more diapers. and you shouldn't have disclosed the hairball problem to cas...i pretended not to know about that. i just did a little gaging as i handed him over to her...but she didn't know why.

suepy--you weren't suppose to tell her how much i sold that to you for.

sheesh people---i have been working hard to keep things under the radar here, now you are all exposing the truths and this is posing a problem for my business.

Laura, you should have take the 34 ford Victoria on your camping trip - I think it might have enhanced that vintage camp feeling you long for...

i don't believe the farmer's wife knows how to use this contraption. she's quite proud of this lack of knowledge. we'll get her acclimated but she has to stop traveling and stay at home to figure it out. NOT!

laura. the hairball thing has become a problem. i can no longer find my house amidst all of the 'hair'. i would return said kitty if only i could find it.

gaylin (the dog) is very confused and mostly afraid of the hariy house.

karen. we may have taken lee's motorcycle on a cross-country tour of cheese factories in wisconsin. not sure if that's really 'cross-country,' but it sure sounded good. try the limburger - to die for!

lee. also noticed the 'goat' was gone. didn't recognize you. then made the connection.

mom/suep. i totally wanted that cupboard - can't believe you got it instead of me!
